Build a practical table setup from Mahjjoy’s original alternative cards and accessories. We do not sell a single pre-packed bundle SKU, so this guide shows you how to combine what is available — and what each combination actually costs.
Step 1: choose the card format
- Standard Card — compact, easy to store and carry, the everyday personal reference.
- Large Print Card — the same 2026 content with larger type, better for shared tables and newer players.
If the table shares one card, Large Print is usually the right call. If every player carries their own, Standard keeps the table clear. Still torn? The card size guide breaks the comparison down.
Step 2: protect the card
- Clear sleeves — full readability, best when the card is handled constantly.
- Matte clear sleeves — frosted finish that softens glare under bright overhead light.
Both are sold in packs of four, which covers a full table of four players or several seasons for one card. Confirm sleeve fit against the card dimensions listed on the product page before ordering — a sleeve that fits one format may not fit the other.
Step 3: add storage
The clutch holder keeps a card flat and protected between games. It matters more than it sounds: most card damage happens in transit, not at the table. If your card travels in a bag alongside racks and tiles, a holder is the cheapest insurance in the lineup.
Three setups that work
The solo player
One Standard Card plus one sleeve pack. Compact enough to keep in your bag, protected against the wear of weekly play. Add the clutch holder only if you travel to games.
The regular host
One Large Print Card for the table, plus a sleeve pack so every player’s card survives the season. This is the combination most home groups end up with after a year of playing.
The gift set
A card in the recipient’s preferred format, a clutch holder, and a sleeve pack. It arrives as a complete present rather than a loose card in an envelope, and the holder means it survives being carried to their next game. Buying for someone else? The where-to-buy guide lists what to confirm first.
Setting up the table
- Give the reference card a fixed, flat spot beside the rack — not under a cup or a phone.
- Position it toward the room light. Overhead glare is the most common readability complaint at home tables.
- If more than one player reads the same card, place it at the centre and consider the Large Print format.
- Keep sleeves on during play; remove them only when you replace the card.
- Store the card flat in the holder between sessions rather than folded into a bag pocket.
Care tips that extend the card’s life
The cards use a laminated, water-resistant finish intended for everyday table use. They are not fully waterproof and should not be submerged. Wipe spills promptly, avoid leaving the card in direct sunlight for long periods, and keep it away from sharp tile edges in a shared bag. If a card arrives damaged, the refund policy page explains how to start a return, and the contact page reaches support directly.
Questions about bundles
Is there a discounted bundle price?
Not currently. Items are priced individually so you only pay for what your table actually needs; the guide above shows the combinations that make sense. Every order ships free — details on the shipping policy page.
Are accessories included with the card?
No. An accessory is included only when the product page explicitly lists it. Check each page for what ships in the pack.
How many sleeves do I need?
Sleeve packs contain four. That covers a table of four, or several seasons of use for a single card.
Independent product notice: Mahjjoy products are independently designed alternative products and are not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any official mahjong league, association, or card publisher. Confirm final dimensions, compatibility, price, and included quantity on each product page before ordering.
What to buy first on a budget
If you would rather build the setup over two orders than one, this is the order we would use:
- Card first. Nothing else matters until you have the current-year reference.
- Sleeve second. Protection extends the life of the card you just bought.
- Holder last. Worth it once the card starts travelling to other tables.
Every order ships free within the U.S., so splitting the purchase across two orders costs no extra shipping.
